Baumler Implements, Inc. has been a family owned business for over 55 years. Today, the Implement is a second generation family business in the Baumler family, with Don and Mark owning and operating the business.

Baumler Implements began in 1961 when brothers Melvin & Reynold Baumler, co-founded Baumler Farm Supply. It was located on Franklin Street in West Union and sold Clay Farm Equipment, including barn cleaners, barn stanchions, and silo unloaders. With time, they added other equipment lines including Allis Chalmers, New Holland and Gehl. In 1966, Reynold decided to pursue other interests and Melvin assumed sole ownership of Baumler Farm Supply. Although Melvin’s kids were young at the time, everyone helped out at the store. Starting a young age, Melvin’s sons, Mark and Don, helped their father with miscellaneous jobs at Baumler Farm Supply after school.

In 1975, Melvin decided to incorporate the business and during the incorporation process, changed the name from Baumler Farm Supply to Baumler Implements, Inc. As farm equipment became more mechanical, more space was required. So in 1976, Baumler Implements moved to its current location south of West Union on Hwy. 150. Don and Mark joined the family business fulltime once they finished their schooling. As years passed, and Mark and Don got older, Melvin started fishing a couple days a week. However, he was still very active in the day-to-day operations until he passed away in 2004.

Baumler Implement has been growing since its inception. Baumler Implements not only sells farm equipment; it is a full service farm equipment dealership, providing parts and service to its loyal customers. The initial building in 1976 was approximately 7,200 square feet. In 2007, Baumler Implements added about 8,000 square feet when by expanding the service shop to add an overhead crane and internal wash bay.

In 2012, Don and Mark decided that Baumler Implement had again outgrown the building. They decided to expand the building support their customers more and give needed space to the shop technicians. As soon as the winter snow melted, in the spring of 2013, they broke ground on the addition. The addition would add a completely new parts, sales, and office area. This expansion also included a new shop area with the extension of the overhead cranes. The new building’s service shop is over 26,000 sq ft of repair workspace, has four overhead cranes, and inside wash room large enough to wash a combine. The parts department has grown to approximately 22,500 sq ft.
